The Philosophy: Pretty In Pink believes that to acquire a developed understanding of dance, and the proper
techniques on which to build one’s own style, one must have a strong, thorough, and disciplined education. Beyond
that a student’s enjoyment and confidence rank as the highest priority. Pretty In Pink believes that the student should
leave his or her class each week with a personal sense of accomplishment, the self-discipline to practice/perfect what
they know, and the motivation to learn more.
The Director/Teacher: Erica L. Perry
has an extensive 18-year background in teaching dance to students of all ages. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts
degree from Prairie View A&M University with a Minor in Dance and received her EC-4 certification to teach elementary.
During this time, she has taught dance at various schools in H.I.S.D., Fort Bend, Pasadena, & Cypress. Producing two
productions a year for each school, and The Wiz at Eleanor Tinsley Elementary School. In addition to her creativity
inside the dance studio, Erica has professional dance training from several teachers including Kenneth Epting Artistic
Director of Exclamation Dance Company. Mr. Epting is a former Principal dancer with Alvin Alley Dance Company.
Monique Rice of Inspirations Dance Company, & Paula Williams former Director of Classic Dance Ensemble at Prairie
View A&M University. Erica danced professionally with Classic Dance Ensemble for three years. Her training began at
the early age of two and has extended to her adult life.
Dance Class Break Down
The Tiny Tutus (Age 2) A one-hour program is specifically designed to introduce dance and creative expression.
Children are taught the basic fundamentals of musicality, rhythm, body awareness and interactive singing. Emphasis is
placed on using our imaginations while participating in group settings. Colorful props are used to help develop fine
motor skills and muscular coordination.
The Mini Tutu’s (Ages 3-4) A one-hour combination class consisting of 30 minutes of pre-ballet and 30 minutes of pre-
tap. This class provides children with a beginning foundation in dance technique and movement vocabulary while
promoting a sense of rhythm, confidence, and self-expression. Children will explore their creativity while being
introduced to developmentally appropriate exercises to prepare them for future training in specific disciplines. Ballet
and tap shoes are required.
Pre-Primary Dance (Ages 5-7) A one-hour combination class of ballet, pre-jazz, and acrobatics/tumbling. Students are
introduced to the concepts of structured dance terminology and prepared for a well-rounded dance experience in ballet
and jazz technique. The tumbling portion of the class is designed to enhance flexibility, strength, and agility among
each student while learning basic acrobatic skills. Pink leather ballet shoes and black slip-on style jazz shoes are
required.
Primary Dance Includes Trina's, & Giselle's (Ages 8 and up) Tap, ballet terminology, and jazz training together in one
class. This class teaches discipline, rhythm, and coordination. Students learn basics that will build throughout their
dance experience and aid in their progression. Students usually learn two tap routines, ballet terminology, muscle
groups, and two movement routines either ballet or jazz.
Class Attire
All students are required to wear appropriate dance attire to class. Dangling jewelry and gum are not permitted in class.
